At the crossroads of Northern Europe, less than 90 minutes from the major European capitals of London, Paris and Brussels, Lille is a modern city in the heart of Europe. With 35% of its population under the age of 25, Lille is the third largest student city in France (more than 110,000 students) and has many internationally renowned schools: EDHEC, IESEG, HEI, HEI, ICAM..
As the birthplace of some major international groups (Auchan, Décathlon, La Redoute, Lesaffre…), Lille is home to seven sites of excellence in the fields of health, materials and textiles: Eura Technologies, Eurasanté, Euralille, La Haute Borne, Plaine Images, CETI (unique in France) and Euralimentaire have been awarded the French Tech label.
Voted European Capital of Culture in 2004, Lille will be the world capital of design in 2020. Students, citizens, business leaders; all will have a role to play in thinking about design in our lives. The Alliance Française in Lille offers French courses to foreign adults and as well as being a place to learn, meet and share experiences, it encourages foreign learners to immerse themselves in the city of Lille and the French culture.
